30 Years of Service
The Zebra ET401 is a rugged Android enterprise tablet available with an 8-inch or 10.1-inch display for retail, hospitality, transportation, warehouse, manufacturing, and field operations. Built as the next generation of the Zebra ET40 and ET45, the ET401 combines a thin, familiar tablet design with Wi-Fi 7, optional 5G, enterprise security, configurable data capture, and IP68 protection.
With a Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-6690 processor, up to 8 GB of RAM, optional integrated barcode scanning, and select RFID configurations, the ET401 can replace multiple purpose-built devices across frontline workflows.
The Zebra ET401 gives employees the usability of a modern tablet without relying on consumer hardware for business-critical work. Its WUXGA display provides 1920 × 1200 resolution and 600-nit brightness for clear viewing indoors and outside. Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protects the touchscreen from scratches and impacts.
AI-enabled touch technology automatically supports input from a bare finger, gloved finger, or conductive stylus without requiring the user to change modes. Water-droplet rejection helps maintain accurate touch response in rain and other wet conditions, while a fingerprint-resistant coating keeps the display easier to read throughout the workday.
The Qualcomm Dragonwing Q-6690 processor runs at up to 2.0 GHz and supports contemporary Android applications, cloud-based AI tools, and Zebra software. Buyers can choose between 6 GB RAM with 64 GB flash storage or an optional 8 GB RAM with 128 GB flash. A microSD slot supports cards up to 2 TB.
Every ET401 can use its 16 MP rear camera for occasional barcode scanning and image capture. Applications with more frequent scanning can be configured with one of two optional dedicated scan engines:
An optional 13 MP ultra-wide rear camera supports applications that require a broader field of view, such as documenting vehicle condition or capturing an entire retail shelf section.
Select ET401 configurations also include short-range UHF RFID. These models can read more than 90 RFID tags per second at distances up to four feet, supporting inventory counts, tool verification, asset identification, and other contactless workflows without a separate handheld reader.
The ET401 carries an IP68 sealing rating for protection against dust and temporary water submersion. The tablet withstands multiple four-foot drops to concrete, while the optional rugged frame increases the tested drop height to 5.1 feet in accordance with MIL-STD-810H.
Thermal-shock testing and an operating range of -4°F to 122°F allow the tablet to move between sub-zero and high-temperature environments. This makes it suitable for employees working between vehicles, receiving areas, stockrooms, manufacturing floors, and outdoor locations.
User-replaceable batteries provide 6,100 mAh capacity in the 8-inch model and 7,600 mAh in the 10.1-inch model. An optional expansion back adds a 3,400 mAh hot-swappable secondary battery. Permanently mounted ET401 tablets can also operate from an external power source without a battery.

The Zebra ET401 is an Android enterprise tablet available with an 8-inch or 10.1-inch display. It is designed for business applications requiring greater durability, security, connectivity, lifecycle support, and data-capture flexibility than a typical consumer tablet.
No. All configurations can use the rear camera for barcode capture, but the dedicated SE4100 and SR500 1D/2D scan engines are optional.
No. Integrated short-range UHF RFID is offered only on specific ET401 models. RFID configurations can read more than 90 tags per second from distances up to four feet.
The principal differences are display size, physical dimensions, weight, and battery capacity. The 8-inch model is lighter and more portable, while the 10.1-inch model provides additional viewing space and a larger standard battery.
Zebra states that nearly all existing ET40 and ET45 accessories work with the ET401. Compatibility should still be confirmed using the exact tablet and accessory part numbers.
No. 5G is available on select WWAN configurations. WLAN configurations use Wi-Fi, and regional cellular-band support varies by country and carrier.
