Description

M7-16-797 | Brady 1" x 0.375" B-797 Glossy White Polyimide High Temperature Polyimide Circuit Board Label (4mil) (Roll of 500 Labels) - 1 in. Core, Thermal Transfer - High Temp Labels for the Brady BBP12

The "-SC" at the end of M7-16-797 is Brady's code for small core: this 1" x 0.375" roll of B-797 glossy white polyimide is wound on a 1 in. core so it loads inside a Brady BBP12 benchtop printer, with no external media holder. The material is the same thermal transfer printable B-797 Brady specifies for printed circuit board and electronic component labeling, with a permanent acrylic adhesive and a 0.0041 in. total thickness.

For engineering labs, repair depots and smaller electronics builders running a BBP12, this is the B-797 format that fits the printer as shipped. Advanced Automation can help you decide when a benchtop BBP12 is enough and when board volume justifies an industrial printer, and supply the labels and ribbon for either.

Printers That Load a 1 in. Core B-797 Roll

  • Brady BBP12: loads 1 in. core "-SC" rolls inside the printer
  • Brady BBP11 (discontinued; replaced by the BBP12): also loads 1 in. core rolls inside the printer

Two mix-ups to avoid: a BBP12 can run standard 3 in. core THT rolls only by adding Brady's external media holder (BBP12-U), and this 1 in. core roll is the wrong size for industrial 3 in. core printers such as the i7100. Cartridge printers (i3300, i5300) use B-797 in B33 cartridges instead.

BBP12 Ribbon Choice and B-797 Ratings

The BBP12 takes Brady ribbons on a 0.5 in. core in 242 ft lengths. For B-797, the R6300 series matters: B-797's UL 969 recognition under UL file MH17154 and its MIL-STD-202G Method 215K solvent rating apply when B-797 is printed with R6300 or R6000 Halogen Free. In BBP12 format, R6300 is part number R6313, 4 in. x 242 ft and halogen free. Use the Ribbon Finder to confirm the match for your printer.

What B-797 Withstands

From Brady's B-797 technical data sheet: no visible effect after 80 seconds at 626°F (330°C), 5 minutes at 500°F (260°C), 2 hours at 392°F (200°C) or 1,000 hours at -112°F (-80°C). Over 1,000 hours of heat the label stays functional, with moderate discoloration by 293°F (145°C). Brady also designs B-797 to survive repeated harsh-condition PCB washes. The 212°F (100°C) maximum on Brady's product listing is a general figure; the data sheet results above are the ones to plan a process around, and Brady presents them as averages.

Good to Know Before Ordering

  • Wave solder contact on the board's underside: Brady recommends testing in your own process, particularly above 500°F (260°C).
  • Indoor applications only, per Brady.
  • Store sealed below 80°F (27°C) and 60% relative humidity for Brady's two-year shelf life.
  • Need a different size or quantity? See Brady high-temp polyimide labels for the full B-797 range.

Outgrowing a Benchtop Printer?

When board volume climbs past what a BBP12 handles comfortably, an Advanced Automation expert can map the move to an industrial printer without changing label material. For ongoing supply, ask about corporate accounts.

For PCB and electronic component manufacturing, get labels that are engineered to survive extreme processes like wave soldering and multiple harsh washes.

  • Ultra-durable – adhesive is built for extreme washes and cleaning chemicals
  • Enhanced topcoat is ideal for boards that go through multiple harsh-condition washes
  • Labels do not require reflow or preheatings to ensure printing readability
  • Smear-resistant, glossy white polyimide material (B-797) is thermal transfer printable
  • UL Approved; Meets requirements of MIL-STD-202G, Method 215K
  • Service temperature of -94° to 212°F (-70° to 100°C)
  • A ribbon is required to print this material. Use Part Number M7-R6300 for the M710 / BMP71 Label Printers.
