Description

THT-58-797-10 | Brady 1" x 0.375" B-797 Glossy White Polyimide High Temperature Polyimide Circuit Board Label (Roll of 10000 Labels) - 3 in. Core, Thermal Transfer - High Temperature Circuit Board Labels

THT-58-797-10 is a 1" x 0.375" Brady B-797 label: a glossy white, thermal transfer printable polyimide with a permanent acrylic adhesive, 0.0041 in. thick without the liner, wound on a 3 in. core for industrial thermal transfer printers. Brady built B-797 for printed circuit board and electronic component pre-process labeling, and its data sheet reports no visible effect after 5 minutes at 500°F (260°C) or 80 seconds at 626°F (330°C).

A board serial number only supports traceability if it can still be scanned after wash and test. B-797 is designed to withstand multiple harsh-condition PCB wash cycles, so the barcode applied at the start of the line is the same one quality, rework and field service read later. Advanced Automation pairs these circuit board labels with the printer, ribbon and software that keep that marking consistent across lines and sites.

Which Printers Take THT-58-797-10?

This part is wound on a 3 in. core and prints by thermal transfer, so it runs on Brady's industrial 3 in. core printers:

  • BradyPrinter i7100: Brady's current industrial thermal transfer printer for 3 in. core media.
  • BradyPrinter i7500: runs standard THT parts like this one in manual mode; Brady's i75-prefix rolls are the smart media made for it.
  • BBP12: takes 3 in. core rolls only with the external media holder (BBP12-U). Inside the printer it uses 1 in. core parts, which carry an "-SC" suffix.
  • Earlier Brady 3 in. core printers: i5100, IP Series and PR Plus.

B-797 is also made in B33 cartridges for the BBP33, i3300 and i5300. Those are separate part numbers; this roll does not fit a cartridge printer.

Which Ribbon Does B-797 Need?

B-797 requires a ribbon, and the ribbon decides which ratings apply. Brady's UL 969 recognition (UL file MH17154) and its MIL-STD-202G Method 215K solvent result for B-797 both apply only when the label is printed with a Brady Series R6300 or R6000 Halogen Free ribbon. For non-reflow boards that go through aqueous cleaning, Brady recommends the R4900A, R6300 or R8965 series.

Match the ribbon to the printer: R6300 comes as R6300 resin ribbon for the i7100, IP-R6300 for IP Series printers and i75-R6300 for the i7500. The Ribbon Finder narrows it by printer model.

Where B-797 Labels Are Used

  • Serial number and barcode labels applied to bare boards before assembly
  • Electronic component and sub-assembly identification that must stay readable after wash
  • Work-in-process tracking on SMT and through-hole lines
  • Medical device, automotive, industrial controls and defense electronics where unit-level traceability is audited

Reading B-797 Temperature Ratings

Brady's product listing gives B-797 a general service range of -94°F to 212°F (-70°C to 100°C), while its technical data sheet reports exposure results well above that. The data sheet is the better guide for process decisions:

  • 80 seconds: no visible effect at 572°F (300°C) and 626°F (330°C); slight discoloration at 662°F (350°C), still functional
  • 5 minutes: no visible effect at 500°F (260°C); slight discoloration at 536°F (280°C); moderate at 572°F (300°C), still functional
  • 2 hours: no visible effect at 338°F (170°C) and 392°F (200°C); slight discoloration at 446°F (230°C)
  • 1,000 hours: slight discoloration at 248°F (120°C), moderate at 293°F (145°C), still functional

Brady notes these are average values, not specification limits, so validate the label in your own thermal profile.

Before You Order

  • Wave solder: Brady recommends testing in your own process if the label sits on the bottom side of the board and contacts the solder wave, especially above 500°F (260°C).
  • Indoor use only: Brady does not recommend B-797 for outdoor applications.
  • Ribbon: order R6300 or R6000 Halogen Free if your quality system requires UL 969 or MIL-STD-202 documentation.
  • Storage: Brady supports a two-year shelf life from receipt in the original packaging below 80°F (27°C) and 60% relative humidity.
  • Other formats: B33 cartridges serve the i3300 and i5300; for a BBP12 without the external holder, look for a 1 in. core ("-SC") part number. Compare sizes and quantities in Brady high temp polyimide labels.

Standardizing Board Labeling Across Lines or Sites?

If you're qualifying a PCB label for a new line or moving several plants to one material, talk to an expert about printer, ribbon and software pairing. For recurring volume, ask about corporate and project pricing or request a quote.

For PCB and electronic component manufacturing, get labels that are engineered to survive extreme processes like wave soldering and multiple harsh washes.

  • Ultra-durable adhesive is built for extreme washes and cleaning chemicals
  • Enhanced topcoat is ideal for boards that go through multiple harsh-condition washes
  • Labels do not require reflow or preheatings to ensure printing readability
  • Smear-resistant, glossy white polyimide material is thermal transfer printable
  • UL approved and meets requirements of MIL-STD-202G, Method 215K
  • Service temperature of -94° to 212°F (-70° to 100°C)
  • For material specific performance and properties, please refer to the Technical Data Sheet (TDS)
