42Gears SureMDM
SureMDM for Warehouses, Plants, Stores & Multi-Site Field Teams.
THE SHORT ANSWER
42Gears SureMDM is unified endpoint management software that enrolls, secures, updates and remotely supports Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS devices from one cloud or on-premise console. It also manages devices that run no operating system, such as Zebra and SATO label printers. Every business is unique, so each deployment is scoped and quoted to the operation.

SureMDM Editions & Deployment Scope
SureMDM is licensed per device in three editions, with optional add-ons. Every business is unique, so each deployment is scoped and quoted to the needs of the specific company. Three things usually decide the edition: how many people administer the fleet, whether device management has to plug into Microsoft or security tooling, and whether you run Zebra devices that need OS updates pushed on a schedule.

UNDERSTAND
What 42Gears SureMDM Does
One console to set up, lock down and support every handheld, tablet, kiosk, printer and RFID reader in the operation.
GET DEVICES RUNNING
Set Up and Roll Out
-
Zero-Touch Setup
Set up a box of new handhelds without touching each one — scan a QR code, or let Android Zero-Touch, Samsung Knox Mobile Enrollment, Apple Business Manager, Windows Autopilot or Zebra StageNow configure them straight out of the box.
-
Group Updates
Push app updates, Wi-Fi settings and configurations to a whole group at once, and schedule OS updates — including Zebra LifeGuard updates on the Enterprise edition.
-
Windows CE to Android
Keep working with older Windows CE and Windows Mobile handhelds while you plan the move to Android, and manage both from the same console during the changeover.
KEEP THEM IN BOUNDS
Lock Down and Control
-
Kiosk Lockdown
Lock shared scanners and tablets to the apps and websites the job needs. Every SureMDM license includes 42Gears SureLock for kiosk lockdown, SureFox for a locked-down enterprise browser and SureVideo for looping video signage.
-
Location and Time Rules
Change what a device is allowed to do based on where it is, the time of day or the network it’s on.
-
Work and Personal Split
Keep work and personal data apart on employee-owned phones, so IT can remove company data without touching anything personal.
FIX PROBLEMS FROM YOUR DESK
Support and Recover
-
Remote Control
See and control a device’s screen from your desk when a worker says “it’s not working,” instead of walking the floor or shipping it back.
-
Find, Lock or Wipe
Find a missing device on a map, make it buzz, then lock or wipe it.
-
Printers and RFID Readers
Bring label printers and fixed RFID readers into the same console: check status, push firmware and send ZPL commands to Zebra printers.
QUALIFY
Who SureMDM Is For
Any fleet size. 42Gears sets no minimum device count.
WHO SUREMDM FITS
-
Mixed Fleets
Operations running a mix of brands and operating systems — Zebra or Honeywell handhelds on the floor, iPads for supervisors, Windows PCs at pack stations — that want one console instead of three.
-
Shared Devices
Warehouses, plants and stores where devices are shared across shifts and need to stay locked to one job.
-
Multi-Site and Field Teams
Multi-site and field teams where walking over to a device isn’t practical.
-
Windows CE Still in Use
Fleets still running Windows CE or Windows Mobile handhelds alongside newer Android devices.
-
Printers and RFID Readers
Fleets that include Zebra Link-OS or SATO printers, or Zebra FX7500 and FX9600 fixed RFID readers, that IT wants to see alongside the handhelds.
-
Microsoft 365 Environments
Microsoft 365 environments that need device compliance tied to Entra Conditional Access (Premium and Enterprise).
When Something Else Fits Better
A handful of kiosks that only need locking to one app, with no remote support or policy management — 42Gears SureLock on its own may be all you need.
A fleet that is entirely Zebra Android, and a team that wants to stay inside the device maker’s own management tools. We carry those too, and will tell you when they’re the better fit.

CHALLENGE
Common Questions Before Buying SureMDM
“How long does rollout take?”
Most customers have their first devices running within a week. Here is how it typically goes.
- 01
2 to 3 days
Software and licenses available
- 02
3 to 5 days
First devices enrolled and running
- 03
About a week
Full setup, admin training and rollout across the fleet
— longer for larger fleets, more locations or integrations
TIP
The biggest factor isn’t the software, it’s who owns the project on your side. When someone on your team is ready to roll up their sleeves, rollouts move quickly. When nobody owns it, projects stall. Name an internal champion before you start, and give them time to learn the console.
MORE QUESTIONS BUYERS ASK
“Will it work with the devices we already own?”
SureMDM covers Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS, plus Windows CE and Windows Mobile handhelds, and is validated through Zebra’s Enterprise Testing Program and Samsung’s Knox program. Send us your device models and we’ll check them against 42Gears’ supported list before you commit. Where printers and tags are part of the project, we can test labels and tags on your actual materials — remotely with demo equipment, or on site when the job calls for it.
“What if we outgrow our edition?”
Editions are licensed per device on 1-, 3- or 5-year terms. Contact Advanced Automation to change editions or add devices and we’ll handle the licensing.
“Will our IT and security team sign off?”
42Gears is ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certified. The admin console supports two-factor sign-in and role-based access, Premium and Enterprise add SAML single sign-on, and Enterprise connects to SIEM and network access control tools.
“Will employees push back on monitoring of their personal phones?”
Employee-owned phones enroll with a separate work profile, so IT manages and removes company data without seeing personal apps, photos or messages.
“What happens when something breaks?”
Software questions go straight to 42Gears’ 24/7 support. Handheld, printer and reader hardware issues come to Advanced Automation.
“Can we try it first?”
Yes. 42Gears offers a 30-day free trial for up to 100 devices, with every Enterprise feature turned on and no credit card required.

What Advanced Automation Does
You work directly with 42Gears on the software, and that relationship stays yours: 42Gears runs the platform and supports SureMDM. Advanced Automation handles the physical side and the rollout work around it — the devices SureMDM manages, the labels and tags they print and read, and the survey, testing, implementation and training that get a deployment running.
THE SOFTWARE
42Gears Handles
The SureMDM platform, hosting, uptime and updates
24/7 software support
Admin onboarding and training, alongside Advanced Automation
Platform-side integration with Entra, SIEM and network access tools
Product roadmap and new features
THE PHYSICAL SIDE
Advanced Automation Handles
Handheld, tablet, printer and RFID reader selection and supply
Checking your device models against 42Gears’ supported list
Site survey, device testing, and label and tag testing where the project calls for it
Implementation support and ongoing training, scoped to the project
Labels, ribbons and RFID tags for the printers and readers you manage
Hardware repair, printheads, parts and maintenance
SureMDM subscriptions, renewals and edition changes
How much of that you want is up to you. Some customers take the software and the hardware and run the rollout themselves. Others want us surveying the site, testing devices and tags, helping with the implementation, and training people as the fleet grows. We scope it project by project — a survey and testing aren’t always necessary, and we’ll say so when they aren’t.

Where the Line Sits: software questions go straight to 42Gears; hardware, labels, supplies, subscriptions and renewals come to us. If it isn’t obvious which it is, contact either one and we’ll work it out together.
What Is 42Gears?
42Gears is a unified endpoint management software company founded in 2009. Its Americas headquarters is in Milpitas, California, with further offices in Bengaluru, India and Manchester, United Kingdom. Its flagship product, SureMDM, manages phones, rugged handhelds, tablets, PCs, wearables, VR headsets and devices such as label printers and RFID readers from one console.
How Much Does 42Gears SureMDM Cost?
Every business is unique, so each SureMDM deployment is scoped and quoted to the needs of the specific company. SureMDM is licensed per device in Standard, Premium and Enterprise editions. Tell us your fleet size, how many sites and admins you have, and what it needs to integrate with, and we’ll quote it.
Does 42Gears Have a Kiosk Launcher and a Locked-Down Browser?
Yes, and both come with every SureMDM license. 42Gears SureLock is the kiosk launcher that locks a device to the apps you approve, and 42Gears SureFox is the locked-down enterprise browser that restricts it to approved websites. SureVideo, for looping video signage, is included too.
Does SureMDM Integrate with Microsoft Entra and Microsoft 365?
Yes. Premium and Enterprise integrate with Microsoft Entra ID and support Conditional Access for Microsoft 365 apps, including on shared devices.
Who Do We Call for Support After We Go Live?
Software questions go directly to 42Gears, which provides 24/7 support for SureMDM. Hardware — handhelds, printers, readers and supplies — comes to Advanced Automation, along with subscriptions and renewals. If you’re unsure, contact either and we’ll sort it out together.
Can SureMDM Manage Label Printers and RFID Readers?
Yes, through 42Gears Things Management, which is licensed separately from SureMDM. Supported Zebra Link-OS and SATO printers, Zebra FX7500 and FX9600 fixed readers on firmware 3.10 or later, Zebra handheld RFID readers and Impinj readers appear in the same console as your handhelds, with status monitoring and firmware updates.
Does SureMDM Work with Zebra Mobile Computers?
Yes. SureMDM completed Zebra’s Enterprise Testing Program, which validated StageNow enrollment, OEMConfig configuration, LifeGuard OTA updates and remote control on select Zebra mobile computers. Scheduled LifeGuard update installs are part of the Enterprise edition.
Can SureMDM Still Manage Our Windows CE Handhelds?
Yes. SureMDM supports Windows CE and Windows Mobile devices through an agent installed from a .cab file, so you can manage legacy handhelds and new Android devices in one console while you migrate.
Can SureMDM Run on Our Own Servers Instead of the Cloud?
Yes. SureMDM is available as a 42Gears-hosted cloud service, or on-premise, where 42Gears licenses the software to run on your own servers and your team maintains the infrastructure.
Is There a Free Trial?
Yes. 42Gears offers a 30-day free trial for up to 100 devices, with every Enterprise feature turned on and no credit card required, so your team can run SureMDM on its own devices before buying.
